I’m Jacob Waters, a teacher, aspiring eduwonk, pragmatist, and voracious autodidact. Though I’ve been interested in politics and policy for as long as I can remember, I started focusing on education as a result of my Political Science senior thesis at Haverford College, which I wrote on the political influence of teachers unions in federal education policy. (It can be accessed here if you’re interested.) I moved to Philadelphia in 2010 to join Teach for America, and have been teaching since.
I’m far from perfect at what I do, but I’m always learning. And I don’t know where this will all lead. All I can say is that, like most people, each day I try to do the right thing.
